Artist's Comments

As the title states, this ring is based on an exploding star, the red stone represents the actual star surrounded by the silver cup (gasses)...... I'm very sensitive about this ring so please be gentle :)

Materials: Sterling Silver & Garnet

Water drop ring? I've made a few like that before. Awesome looking.

Yup, that was the method.....I did have to fabricate it a bit though I don't think it's too obvious in this picture :)

I've always wanted to try the water drop method :) I'm afraid to ask my metals teacher tho, lol, because I think she'll be kind of freaked out by the ability to hurt myself... ;-)

hehe :) It;s definately a good one to try plus u can keep remelting until you get something you like....A girl in my silversmithing class managed to get some very pretty 'lilly' shapes doing this :XD:
:iconaglaranna:
Oooh, yeah, I really need to try this some time...

I'm not very familiar with this 'water drop method,' but it looks pretty cool nonetheless.

Hi :) Thanks for your comment....It's a technique more commonly known as 'drop casting'...Strangely I haven't seen any info on it in silversmith/jewellery books.
:iconsoundinnovation:
I'll have to ask my professors about it sometime, they're like walking encyclopedias.
